Bill, the # on the cert is 957 how many judges did NCCB have back then?

Brian, I have no idea of how the numbering system worked. But knowing Dave, I'll bet there was a reason for it.

Yes, another highlight of the "old Bloomie". How could we forget the parties at Holiday Inn on Sat night. (then up with the chickens on Sunday AM to judge cars)

I don't remember how the number system worked either. I don't think I ever did know.
I was probably among the first batch to receive a number and I'm #910.

Does anyone have a current email addy for Burroughs? Lets just ask him. After all, he designed the system.

Bloomington Holiday Inn 1982, Saturday night, any body remember the drunk guy offfering $100 to the winner, for a wet Tshirt contest? Got my butt whipped over that one!! But I did keep my $100, bought a set of 67 nos center caps with it the next day.

I have his home email addy here somewhere, but I can't find it. Thought it was in my puter address book??

I have his phone # so maybe I'll just call him.

Jumer's Castle was another good place to stay. Turn on the lights and it was still too dark to shave.

The fairgrounds are great memories, but, the golf course is much nicer. I park my car on Wednesday and don't start it again until I leave on Saturday.

I judge 68/69 engine compartment for Gold Certification and am honored to follow in the footsteps of some very knowledgeable folks including our own Dick Whittington, Paul Noble and Stan Falenski. I'll never be as good as those guys.

                      Regards,

                      Mark

My first as # 1078 in 1982. It was signed by 3 judges, Dave & had Sherill's notary seal. It sure brought back memories. I started going in 78. I will never forget the sea of Corvettes parked in the fields. Had to stay in Springfield & then a friend let me have one of his rooms at the Holiday INN. Remember Roy & his Dad would always bring some nice cars to sell.I sold & bought a lot of Corvettes there. I remember though that I could not get 25,000 for my WHITE/ TEAL 435 CONV. all original. I am glad I got to live in the fast car 60'S & the hay day of Corvettes in the 70'S & 80'S.

I remember one Friday night at the Holiday Inn--the smoke from the burnouts was so thick, the fire alarm was set off inside the hotel! The burnouts came to a stop when the Fire Department showed up!

How timely that today it was announced that the former Holiday Inn (has been several different names since '91) has been sold to a land developer and will be torn down. It was already closed. I don't have any pictures of the motel action back then.

Another bit of Corvette history gone. Lot of good times at that place. I hope someone has some good pic's of "the activities" that occured there each June.

David, do you have any relatives in La Grange, IL?

Michael, I don't have any IL relatives; my relatives are in Texas, Missouri & NJ.
For the first couple years of 'Corvette Corral' I didn't need a motel since all I had to do was walk across the highway to the apartment...which is still there. Will post a picture in a couple of years of whatever replaces the old Holiday Inn !
