    '67 convertible deck lid springs...

Those two large springs on either side enclosed in the metal housings right under the deck lid...all of that was painted body color, right? I checked the Judging Manual but it's not mentioned. Thanks, PT

It's probably not mentioned because owners aren't required to raise/lower the convertible top or open the rear deck lid during flight judging. And, it's frowned on for interior judges to actually enter the car.

You almost have to be 'snake' to access that far back into the rear storage compartment for a clear, unobstructed view of the deck lid springs...

But, to answer your question; yes the rear deck lid springs were installed and functional when the body went through the paint shop. The deck lid was raised to shoot exterior color on the bottom side. There was random overspray that colored the deck lid's lift/spring mechanism. Coverage can be expected to vary from car to car based on how 'aggressive' the painter was on that particular day.

Thanks Jack but I want to do this right. The painter forgot to shoot them. I'll paint them tomorrow. PT
