ok. my baby is a 64 with a 427 and hydraulic lifters; 4" restricted flow hooker sidepipes. a good driver. holley 1850. i used a hairpin on the secondary shaft and took the car out for some back road acceleration tests. quit when i reached 90+ mph.
the hairpin had moved about 1/4 to 5/16 inch down the shaft. does this suggest full opening of the secondaries, or should i look for greater hairpin travel??
if it is not full opening, should i put in lighter springs [i have the plain standard spring in there now].
also, i did read some internet advice that said the check ball should be removed [for earlier secondary activation]. i have mine in place.
any advice appreciated. happy motoring and wrenching to all [i almost said happy wenching, but at my age "wrench" comes to mind].
