    The meaning of Trivia

I post a lot of Trivia about some parts and was wondering if it's helped members to recognize an original parts. When I see and read other members posting on what they look for that's Trivia to me and I save it.
I'm not saying the JM is right or wrong , just trying to help people to determine a service part from the original part.
I use the word Trivia because to some it's just that and I don't mean to impose anything on any one.

The whole process of Corvette restoration and preservation is a form of trivia. The whole judging guide is trivia condensed into a book we use to restore and preserve our cars like they way they "were" I love it !

Roy - I find it very helpful. Just curious, were you as enthusiastic about working on old Corvettes when it was a job rather than a hobby like it is now ?

When I bring my new cars into be serviced thesedays I don't see a lot of passion for working on them from the technicians.

                    Roy....
The "trivia" pictures that you post help.
Lots of the stuff lying around here is just "junk" until I know what it is or what it's used for.

When I can look at some greasy bolt in the vast multitude of buckets of the stuff, gaskets, rebuild kits, bulbs, tools, on and on, and suddenly realize what I'm looking at, it's because of you and all the other's that are on the "education detail" for the the rest of us.

I may not be able to work on my car just yet, but I'm learning something new about it every day.

                    Thank you.......
                    Best, Sandy

I wont to thank those that said (keep them coming) I'm not looking for any pat on the back , there are many here that do the same on the year Corvette they know.
It's not that I'm picking on the JM (well yes it is) .When I was a Chevy mechanic in 1966 for a Chevy dealer I loved working on Corvettes and that was all I did, mostly engine and rear ends in Burbank Ca. And had many movie stars bring theirs to me only to work on. I had many Corvettes and was vary interested in it's detail . When I see restored Vetts getting a top flight or higher I find it flustering to see little details wrong (service parts or just parts) pass the JM! When I tried to sell parts that were REAL explaining to people why they should, I usually got the same answer " why when the JM don't judge that" Well some day they WILL!!!

Keep them coming Roy. When you were working for the Chevy dealer fixing Corvettes, what was the most common reasons for the engine and rear end work? More C2's than the C1's?

Mostly C2 400 Trans burn ups, BB lifter collapsing , Four speed Clutch's, rings not seating , rear end noise on turns and so on , stander problems driven hard. Some C1's FI.
We knew how to flat rate many problem under warranty. Like replacing the governor on a 69 BB 400 with out removing the trans. Or getting a lifter out (BB) with out removing the intake and so on.

Trivia or not Roy, please do continue posting regularly. I must commend you for your continued very enthusiastic, sometimes controversial, but always interesting and thought-provoking views. A lot of us, especially those with long-standing affiliation in the hobby need to be rejuvenated from time to time. Posts from a senior member of the Corvette fraternity like you are an inspiration, at least to me, who sometimes feels as though my dedication and interest in the automotive hobby has begun to flag somewhat during the past several years. Wish it wasn't so!....

Roy, always very helpful to me. Remember your piece on the condensors on a 54 were 2 types, the shield had 1 type and the regulator had another? Helped me a ton. Seats, hood alignment, body mounting, horn beeper kit, carbs, I can go on and on.

                              Keep 'em coming, Roy.
