Unfortunately, there is no accurate way to obtain the information you are requesting. GM has never released (or found) the information to answer this question.

Bill is correct. The most common resource for numbers is the "Black Book" and I believe most of those numbers are extrapolated, especially the early cars.

        Mark,

I hope this is not the car you're thinking of pulling the engine out of. It sounds like a real nice one with some great options. Just leave it alone and enjoy driving a real classic. By the way, I have absolutely no clue how many were made like yours in 1966. What's your VIN. I was just wondering if your car was close to either of my 1966s coming down the line. Mine were/are 16401 and 27592.

Re: 1966 coupe how rare is it

          Coupe 9958 of 27720 or 35.9%
          Trophy Blue 1463 of 27720 or 5.3 %
K-19 smog with powerglide and air condition 342
          C60 air conditioning and M35 auto 714

Noland Adms book RESTORATION & TECHNICAL GUIDE spells out the above specs.

Now that is all cars coupes and converts. So if you use 35% of 342= 119 coupes with AC and powerglide, then take 5.3% of the 119, you have maybe 63 cars that could have been. 43 years later, how many are left?

Just drive and enjoy. We are only 'caretackers' anyway. So enjoy the moment.

Your car a pretty rare car based on all the options - then pile-on the K19 gear and you don't see many at all. Not that the smog is a desirable option, just rare as most of the smog stuff was taken off these cars. The K19 requires very specialized brackets, hoses, pulleys, carb, etc. that isn't generally reproduced.

I have a like-equipped L36 BB coupe, sans the auto trans, but all the other options plus a couple. It's one of 23 made according to Nolan Adam's book - and a birds nest under the hood. Changing plugs is a six-pack event!

List your car on www.c2registry.org and it calculates automatically how unique your ride is.

                    Mark,

25547 is a pretty late car. Using some very rough calculations, it was probably going down the assembly line around the first week of July, 1966. The final day of production was July 29, 1966. Your car was 2173 away from the end of production which was 27720 for 1966. Anyway, just leave it as is. It sounds like a pretty nice, high option car, that should not be altered if you can avoid it.

No, it's not. That's a progressive mathematical extrapolation, which ignores reality. No records were kept of the thousands of possible permutations of option combinations; we know exactly how many of each individual option were built, but ZERO about how many of each possible permutation were built. Ignore the eBay auctions that say "1 of XXXX" - they're guesses, not reality.

Well, there was probably only ONE Corvette made with his VIN tag... So, if he's wanting to crow about how rare the vehicle is, there's his chance for the spotlight!

When did Chevy begin recording the number of Corvette individual options, colors, export vehicles, etc.?

                            Thanks!

Rare doesn't equal desirability which equals $$$$$$$$$. Sometimes rare means nobody else wanted one like that.
