63 Exhaust - Powerglide

My 63 is a 327/300 powerglide Coupe and I want to replace my current exhaust system. My car just received a top flight at a chapter level and one of the areas that I need to improve my exhaust system and finding a original set of pipes has been a major challenge to find for me and I am sure I am not alone on this, so going the reproduction route I need help to understand the configuration of an original system if someone has one I could review (welds, mufflers, clamps...). If someone has a exact reproduction set that was judge and receive minor deduction they could share would be appreciated. As I research this for my car and bring it to the next level (Regionals) an example of a correct system that was judged at a top flight level would be helpful. Thank you

Jeffrey, the first thing I would do is run a search of the archives for exhaust systems, as there has been much good discussion of this in the past, and lots of good comments on the various available systems, including some new on the market. None are 100% perfect, but some of the recent releases are getting closer. Give it a try.

Jeff, My 63 has an Allen's exhaust. Been judged at 2 regionals and one chapter. No deducts on the exhaust. JD

Is the Allen's system a correct one piece rear pipe and muffler or is it separate?

JD, Jeffery would need a 2" system, not a 2 1/2", because his car is a PowerGlide.
