    N11 exhaust installation

I wanted to install just the N11 mufflers, but my talipipe is welded to the existing muffler. I was going to order a welded system from Corvette Central, but I questioned whether I can get the tailpipe/muffler unit through the frame holes to clamp it to the exhaust pipes.

CC says I can, that that was the way the factory did it. Can I really thread the tailpipe with the muffler installed from the rear end through the frame holes and meet up with the exhaust pipe? Sounds impossible to me, but is it? Thank you. BTW, 1967 427/400.

    Larry,

Just remove the rear filler panel and you will have plenty of room. You may have to be a little patient getting the tips aligned straight due to the fact with the N11, you have lost an adjustment point. The sound is worth it!

Thanks, Tim. Would you clarify what adjustment point I'm losing? This may be obvious, but I just got off work, and my head is still spinning.

You lose the joint that would be in front of the muffler. I would suggest to get a helper due to the fact the muffler and pipe assembly is a little bulky. Once the filler panel is out, it is not a bad job.

        Have fun!

I installed mine a couple years ago with my grown son's assistance.
We removed the spare tire carrier. It was a little tight as I recall. But it went in and lined up really well.
