78 Carpet Question

I am in the final stages of getting my 78 back to the way it left the factgory. It was a radio delete car but the original owner had the dealer install a radio upon delivery. I have found the radio delete plate and now have a carpet question. The dealer cut holes in the rear carpet and installed speakers in the back. Now that I have removed the radio and speakers I have two large holes in the carpet. I ordered carpet to replace the rear area and it was listed as "matching" the original factory carpet. When I opend the box the carpet is a really close match on color but the pile is not as dense and fluffy as what is in the car now. So it looks like I need to replace front carpet also. By doing this how will this effect the judging of the car for NCRS. The rest of the car is all original except for the battery and I was trying to get it Top Flighted. So do I try to find some origmal 1978 Doeskin carpet and repair the holes or do I install all new carpet?

John, as I like to keep as much original as possible I would look for some original. There are a number of dismantlers and parts organizations in The Driveline, Hemmings, etc. I would start calling. Exact match repro's are hard to find, if possible. I have '78 Oyster carpet samples from a number of vendors are none are exact.
