1972 350 starter mounting bolt finish

On the base motor 72 I'm working on I removed the starter on Friday to get it out of the way for cleaning the block, draining the coolant, etc. The original started mounting bolts "appear" to have been zinc plated given the amount of shine they have after mild cleaning. In addition the ones sold by Paragon are zinc plated. However, I thought I'd check to see if others believe that to be correct.

I've looked at pics of my own car, and really can't tell. On both cars there is enough oil and grease to make identification difficult.

Thanks for any assistance you can provide.

    HI Patrick
All that I have seen used and NOS are Zinc plated. Long starter bolt and the short one both zinc plated. If you need pics let me know. ie C or 0 with the slashes etc.
    Thanks, Grant

      Grant,

      Thanks for the confirmation.
I suspected that but so much black gunk was stuck to (and came off) the bolts that I wanted to be sure.

Every Chevrolet starter bolt I have seen -- going back to cars built even before I was born -- have been silver color plating. I would assume that to be zinc.
