    Help Finding Fuel Pump

My usual source for hard to find Sting Ray parts, Long Island Corvette Supply, no longer has any rebuilt original fuel pumps for my car. I need suggestions as to where to go to find this.

My car is a '65 L76 (327/365) Coupe with A/C. I have the dreaded "replacement" fuel pump on the car, now. If I can find a correct unit and install it, I can recover 12 originality & condition points at the next Flight Judging.

Any help will be appreciated. -Clark

    Clark:

I would try Paragon, Corvette Central, and Bill Mock in that order. I know Paragon had them listed in their last catalog, and I think CC did also. Bill Mock advertises water pumps but also says he has fuel pumps. Worth a call.

If this doesn't work, I would continue to search E-bay until I found a good core and then rebuild it. Kits are available for the pre-1967 pumps.

You need the "40083" pump. There are many posts on these as well as just what to look for in an original in the archives. Worth a search.

        Clark:

Both Corvette Central and Year One show rebuilt orginals in stock per their websites.

Year One part number to search for is FS 457. Both CC and Year One pumps are rather pricely at around $200 -250.

Paragon (now) only has the replacement without the AC logo for around $50. However, you can also check Paragon Vintage to see if they have a used original that you could buy and rebuild.

Some of those so-called originals, with the AC logo do not look quite right.
There was a batch of those made up some time ago, which are still being sold............
Like Bill C said........look in the archives for telltales for REAL originals.
