Distributor-small block

Was the distributor painted orange, if so, in the engine or outside?
If not painted, was it left natural?

The distributor was painted black before it as installed in the engine. Depending on the year of the engine it was either installed after the engine was painted or it was covered by a can-like protector during painting. NO ORANGE paint on the distributor.

Si I guess none of your choices are correct.

It was neither satin black nor full gloss black. It was more of a semi-gloss black. I've never been able to find a paint that exactly duplicated the original paint used.
