Top of dash paint-1957

When did the factory change from painting the top of the dash red on a Polo White/red interior car from red to white, an Onyx Balck/red interior car from red to black, etc? The change seemed to go from the interior color to the body color. Was it to simplify the painting process?

By memory. 57 #3963, white with red interior, dash was painted white when body was painted then dash was painted red with interior.
