    Joe,

Is there a difference in the description of the 10028615 v 14046906? The lugnut CAPS in the photo link I gave you, above (click on photo of the yellow ZR1 and enlarge it) are identical to the early C4 caps (84 - at least '87, AFAIK), except for the color. The lugnuts are probably all the same for those years. Caps were available in black (the most common color), dull metallic silver, and possibly chrome plastic (this is what Mike might have, unless they are aftermarket with stainless steel CLADDING (non-removable).

Did any of the C4 ZR1's have a chrome wheel option? I don't thinks so. AFAIK, all ZR1 wheels came exactly as pictured in the above link, and so, were originally fitted with the silver caps. I might be wrong on the chrome wheel thing.............somebody more knowledgeable please chime in here. The only other way that those ZR1 (style) wheels came out of the factory, was all-gloss black on the '96 Gran Sport, in which case, those same lugnuts were fitted with my (1985) style black caps.

BTW: ALL C4 Corvette, in the McGard catalog, show 12mm x 1.5 threads, with cone style (60 degree) seats.

I've come up with some more information. Apparently, the GM #14046906 was a black plastic coated lug nut which did not utilize a plastic cap. Consequently, even though GM says it was the nut used for 1985, I now seriously doubt it was ever used for 1985. However, it may have been used for 1984. It would be interesting to hear from 1984 owners.

So, I expect that 1985 must actually have used the GM #10028615. Later P&A information seems to confirm that. The 10028615 and 10091792 used later are very similar. The only significant difference is the length. The 10028615 is 24.4 mm in length and the 10091792 is 27.8 mm in length.

Forgot to attach the photo and can't do that via "edit" function, so here is what I THINK a GM #14046906 looks like (or, at least, very close to what one looks like).

        Joe L,

You may add photos with edit function.

Hi Joe, You're right on the money with pic of lug nut # 14046906. Here's a pic of my extras from my 84 Corvette. Have some still in GM sealed bag. These were 1984 Corvette only. 1984 were all metal, no plastic. 1985 and later came with plastic covers, except some of the ZR-1's you guys are talking about. Save the Wave.>George
