old pics of '62 from orig. owner

Hi all-Had an interesting visit yesterday from the original owner of my '62- I'm the third owner(since 7-97),having bought the car from the second owner, (co-worker),who lives close by,who bought the car after the original owner had traded it on a newly ordered '64 coupe,in mar. 64.
I've known the complete history of the car since mar.64-and now I know the complete history since the original owner ordered the car in sept. 61.
AS yet he has'nt found any paperwork-but he has a few more places to look.
Last pic is my '62 and it's original owner (taken yesterday)

    EJ:
That's great -- congratulations! I'm sure you were both able to exchange some great stories about your good times with the Vette. I've had the good fortune to do the same with a couple of the past owners of my car, but I hope to be able to continue the history & nostalgia back to the original owner one day, too. Hopefully, they will find some old photos for me and, if they do, I will post them as well. It feels good to see that most past owners are as excited as we are to see (or hear about) their old girl once again.

    Continuing the history,
    Roger (50141)

That's great. Nice to find an original owner who's cooperative! The on the lawn pictures remind me of the pictures the original owner of my 73 454 sent me. They were taken the day he brought the car home, on his 23rd birthday, his first new car:

That's really great EJ. I wish I had that kind of luck. I have a 1966, and have tracked the ownership back to 1975, but the trail goes cold prior to that. Some of the prior owners have been great and provided me with information, photos, documents, etc. It would be really nice if your original owner found some paperwork. Here's to continued good luck!!!

Congratulations EJ! Are the chrome wheels in the original pictures equipped with spiders or period knock offs?

          Thanks!

Steve-good question-I'm not really sure-Come to think of it,the second owner may still have those wheels,as they were on the car when he bought the car in mar.of '64. I think they are just a chrome dust cover that is retained by chrome "acorn" type lug nuts-I'll ask him the next time I talk to him.
The original owner ordered car in sept. '61,took delivery on oct. 23 '61. He was a 19 yr. old freshman at OSU. He used the car to commute to school and home on weekends and holidays. He also added a hurst shifter and hedman headers(which I finally removed last year) He lived in El Reno,a distance of about 90 mi.After 2 yrs. and 5 mos. and about 25000 mi; he traded for a new 64 coupe. In the time he owned the '62,the only mechanical/warranty issues were the radio quit (don't know if it was replaced or repaired),F.I. drive cable broke (on the way home from school), Radiator developed a major leak after shutting car off at home one night-All items were replaced by chev. during first year.

              Hi EJ,
I always enjoy seeing old pictures of new or fairly new cars taken by proud owners.
The original owner looks in pretty good shape and seems to have a lot of original parts still installed.
There must be some serious 'time travel lag' for a fellow to be standing next to a part of his life that's 48 years old.
              Thanks for posting!
              Regards,
              Alan

                EJ--
Thanks for sharing the pics and the story. Many of us are envious of your ability to contact the original owner and have meaningful dialog.
By the way--my daily driver during the summer is a white 62 fuelie--and my computer password here at the church is White 62.

                  Hey Butch.
Really like seeing the "then" and "now" type pictures. The old pictures are really cool.
Good luck on the paperwork angle too.
                  Dave,
P.S. I didn't know that car was ever in Topeka!

Mike -A word on dialog-I already knew most of the options on this car,but the original owner also revealed he ordered it with whitewalls, and a 3:55 gear. I also asked him "what made you order FI?" He stated that he had been around several farm tractors that had fuel injection, and thought it would be interesting to have it on a car.-
By the way-the second owner of this '62 drove it to over 92000 mi; with no FI problems except a fuel leak around the welsh plug on the side of the fuel meter, which occurred at about 70000 mi.
Also-He told me that he had never "bumped "the '62, but 4 days after he traded it for a new '64 coupe,he was rear-ended at a stop light and the car was totaled! (I have pics of that car as well)-EJ

                      Congradulations. Nice!

I will be posting some pics of my 62 with the original owner. Mine is also white and a fairly early car built in January. He was the only owner since new! He's 78 years young!

I'm going to get the original sales rep together with the original owner, hopefully in a week or two. By the way he had all the original paperwork.

check out what I received last month from the son of a previous owner of my 66. It was taken circa 1990. Yes, it has its original 5 knockoffs!!

His dad passed away and he wants to buy the car. He will have first shot when I decide to sell it.
