Not a Corvette, but easy money if you have or find it.

Re: big reward $25,000
Shouldn't be that hard. I would start by contacting the Indiana DMV. They should have access to that license plate number. In Florida it would be available on microfiche, even going back 30 years. That would produce the VIN number which could then be searched by state. I found my first Corvette, a 72 convertible sold in 1984, last year the very same way. For the states surrounding Indiana that may not cooperate with Joe Citizen due to privacy laws you can use Internet agencies that charge a relatively small amount of money to search for you. Of course if the car is not registered which is entirely possible and very likely a bit more sleuthing may be needed. If the car was sold in Indiana the VIN would produce to whom it was last registered to in that state. That is where I would start calling. By the way Pappa John's pizza tastes like cardboard...and anyone that would cut a hole in the roof of a Z28 can't be that bright.- Top

Re: big reward $25,000
I would disagree with the "card board" taste....however opinions are like arm pits.....AND who's to say he put the hole in roof? Most everyone was doing it back then.
Still like second gen Z-28's....at least the early ones.

Re: big reward $25,000
Three issues on this car that do not support the Z28 claim besides the sun roof are, 1) the rear cove/tail light section is not body color and similar to the paint on an L78 car. Z28’s were body color in that area, 2) no rear bumper guards present, and, 3) it should have the tall RPO D80 spoiler option. By April 1970 GM released the 3 piece high spoiler as a COPO option 9796 on the Z28, then in 1971-72 RPO D80 was the only option. You could not get the short spoiler in 72. In summary, the car is a probable “tribute”.- Top

Re: big reward $25,000
Wow good catch. No accounting for taste in pizza with some folks but we ordered one of their creations at a show recently and we ended up running for the portables after an hour or so. I'm guessing it was "crappy" cheese. Anyway hope he finds that ride and that hole in the roof didn't ruin the interior.- Top

Re: big reward $25,000
Other than the aforementioned unoriginal hang-on parts or painted panels, by then trim tag would have inidicated the vehicles heritage and stamped in to the plate. Z27=Super Sport....Z28=Z28 etc.

Re: big reward $25,000
Michael, they are "recreating" those tags in the aftermarket. Forgery is rampant in the Camaro world and it is only in the past few years that they are beginning to collect empirical data and documentation. First Gens are further along than the early Second Gens. Be careful out there.- Top
