Edward I have a original owner 68 FEB built still in my garage and it is a 327/350HP and I still have the AIR system on the car. Do not have air or PS.
Do not have the solenoid you posted.

There was never originally any bracket or solenoid attached to the forward engine lift bracket on a 1968 or, for that matter, any other year Corvette. Without seeing it, my GUESS would be that it might be a partially disconnected "Echlin Device" which was a retrofit NOX emission control device once required in California upon change of ownership.

Yes, GM #1114421 is an idle control solenoid. It was originally used on some 1968-70 Corvettes, especially those with C-60. However, it was not originally attached to a bracket welded to the front engine lift bracket. It was attached to a bracket which mounted to the carburetor.

            Joe,
I seem to recall that I asked a similar question about a year ago about such a solenoid for my 68 L79 motor with C-60 and the answers I received were that the solenoid was only used for big blocks and not for my smallblock.
Is that still the case or has new information come to light that might indicate that the solenoid was used on smallblocks as well?

The exact application of these solenoids is something I don't think I (or, anyone else for that matter) has figured out. That's why I was "vague" about application in my previous post.
