    Bill,

Have you checked the archives? There are lots of posts on mid-year front springs and the various part numbers used, depending if the car was SB or BB, with or without C-60. Search the archives for "66 front spring coils", for example. You'll find posts with coil count and wire diameter specs.

      Re: Front Spring

Spring technical data is listed in each year AMA specs, which are part of the free "Restoration Package" available to vintage Corvette Owners, but who knows if that program will survive much longer, if it still exists.

The '66 SB spring looks like the upper spring in this picture. It has some coils wound closer than others. It is wound from 0.600 inch wire and is 16.88 inches long.

Front Spring; small block w/ C-60

          Bill,

According to the archives there was also a different spring in 66-67 for small block cars with C-60 and that spring was different still from the F-40 HD spring.

              Hi Gary:

I'm quoting John Hinckley from a previous thread:

"As Michael noted, all '64-'67 small-blocks used the #3851100 front spring; they were variable-rate and progressively-wound, as shown in the photo below."

                Gary -

All of my references (including the A.I.M., Chevrolet Engineering Specs, and the AMA submission package) show the 3851100 front spring for all '66-'67 small-block usages; F41 was only available on solid-lifter big-blocks.

                  John, Bill,

                  Thanks for the correction.

                    Re: Front Spring

Thanks all for your help. I found the tag on the spring and cleaned it up and it is a replacement BB spring. I also found the specs in Nolans book and they seled the verdict. Now i just have to buy a set of small block springs.
