    1960 C1 wiper question

I have just completed a motor rebuild, all indications are that it is functioning fine, both speeds and park are aok.
However, the park position of the motor actuator does not line up with the parked wiper arm actuator. I have no idea if the arms were put on wrong or what, as I have recently acquired this car and the motor was dead and missing all its wires at the time.
Question is, can I just remove the arms and replace in the desired park position on the screen once the motor and wire hub are linked up, or will this cause inside cables to unravel from the hub? Motor park is at 9 O Clock and 3 O Clock..
Any advice is appreciated , also, any tips on safely removing the arms from their splines would be useful.

    Regards, Dave.

Dave, I had the same situation on my '57. I tried a couple of times putting the arms on until I got them lined up properly. I used a screw driver (wrapped in thin cloth) to carefully pry up on the wiper. Go slow to bring the arm straight up and not at an angle. It is an easy job, just go slow.

Make sure you are only lifting the the Wiper arm. NOT part of the transmission.

Spend six bucks for the right wiper arm remove/install tool and you can pop them off and on in seconds, without scratching your paint.

Thanks all, My main question though was really the first part..is it ok to link all the mechanism up THEN put the arms where I want them? or will this cause the interior cables to unravel from the hub or whatever?

          Thanks again, Dave.

The cables will not unravel from the spool unless they break, or unless they are intentionally removed (not an easy thing to do).

Get the wiper working, the spools rotating, and get the wiper to shut off in the park position. Then place the arms and blades in place on the splines in the exact position you want them. If the wiper motor is working properly, it will return them at park to that exact location.

Thanks everyone... one last question before I hopefully lay this thread to rest..
I see one of the interior wire transmission cables is frayed and is in need of replacement.. best to put on a full new set I think...anybody got a source for these pre made? or will I have to fabricate them?

                  TIA, Dave.
