I'm looking to buy a case of 12 of the new white PF-25 filters. Has anyone found a good deal on them in case lots? Technicaly I think they were used from 68-75 with some embosed but the style made today is just a good repo.

Re: White PF-25 new filters
Lyle I bought a case from the Chevrolet dealer where I get all my parts -- 10% over his cost. Now all I need is the part number and I can look up what I paid. My best guess is $16.29 EACH LAST August. I am sure they are more now.Terry- Top

I don't think that GM #19137300 is a part number that's available through the GM parts system. I believe it's a Delco Parts System-only item. Of course, most GM dealers know how to get parts through the Delco parts system but some might not know.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Based on AC Engineering Change dates, white filters without embossing were most likely used on late 1972 production, all of 1973 production and early 1974 production. Since oil filter cosmetic changes would not have been viewed as critical, old stock would have been used and there were no clear break points. The color change was driven by AC Marketing for the aftermarket and Chevrolet went along with it.
My opinion is based on the following drawing change dates:
Embossed letters removed: January 3, 1972
Finish changed to blue paint: February 19, 1974

Are these filters being made in the USA? The repro filter has "Product of USA" stamped on the bottom. I was expecting "Made in Mexico".- Top

The AC Division was spun off by GM as part of the Delphi Corporation and is not part of GM. Delphi no longer makes oil filters to my knowledge since the factory was torn down in Flint, Michigan. ACDelco is still part of GM but they are a marketing and distribution activity and now purchase all filters made to GM specifications from a number of manufacturers. As a result, the filters at any given time can come from different manufacturers in different countries. However, they should all meet GM specifications.
Joe Lucia, and others, have made extensive comparisons on designs from various manufacturers that can indicate which ones may perform the best under heavy duty service. From an NCRS judging standpoint, the ACDelco brand is the only way to go.- Top

19137300 is the number on my receipt from the Chevrolet dealer. I will look on the individual box to see what that number is, but I am on my way out the door to the Nebraska Chapter meet -- so i don't know when I'll be back here.Terry- Top

The number on the box will be 19137300. However, not all parts with a GM "long number" are available through the GM parts system. I think this is one of those that is not. It is available through Delco, though, and, as I mentioned, most GM dealers can obtain parts through the Delco system. Often times, they actually obtain them through a local AC Delco automotive distributor's warehouse. In fact, sometimes, for certain parts available through BOTH the GM and Delco parts system, they will obtain the parts through Delco (because they can get them for a dealer cost that's below their dealer cost from the GM parts system), but then sell the parts for the GM list price (which is often higher than the Delco list price). In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
