The choke was/is incorrect configuration completely. They mention the numbers on the tops, but not on the bodies or bases--that leads me to believe they are not correct. Incorrect bases usually come from regular WCFB carbs, and are too thick for Corvettes. You don't find that out until you have them completely installed, and then the hood doesn't completely clear. A while back, an individual was on this board, upset that he had been sold an air cleaner that was "too tall". It wasn't the air cleaner at all--was the wrong carb bases.

The throttle plates don't look correct. He doesn't mention the center sections which should be 049s. The arms are like 270hp carbs but you have to look inside to tell a legit pair of 270s vs 245s.

Dave, This will help you with the comment that you have to look inside to tell a 270hp set from a 245hp set. I've seen a mix match of parts where 270hp arm were with 245hp bodies. I have a set of 270hp and 245hp so if you need pics I can post some. The bases have a much more gradual slope by the mounting holes.

              Ted,
Could you please post photos of the bases? I'd like to compare. THanks.

              Dave

These should help. The first is a 1387 throttle plate which is correct for 2x4s and the second pic is what you typically see on single 4 bbl carbs.
