Can I have a vote on what colour coves I should have for my car. I will be painting my car Tuxedo Black and I'm leaning to paint the coves the same colour. Do you guys like Black body with sateen silver coves or black body with black coves. Stewy

Re: What Colour Coves
I think that silver coves are a nice addition to a black car.
Although a solid black car is also very classy.
My 57 is all red including the coves.
I suppose you could mess around and do one side with silver coves and the other all black....- Top

Re: What Colour Coves
Stewart,
Only 34.3% of "cove" cars had the Two Tone Exterior Paint option. That said, if the interior is red, I think that silver coves on a Tuxedo Black 'vette with the red interior is one of the classiest color combinations ever for a 'vette.- Top

Re: What Colour Coves
I agree! Black is an extremely well loved color that of course is rebellious and cool. The silver coves just seem to reflect the C1 two tone combinations very well with black, and the red interior, that just finishes the complete package and directly reflects into the legendary classic C1 body style rather well, but I am not being bias......ha ha ha!

Re: What Colour Coves
34.3 % of cars only had the coves a different colour. I have always wondered what the % was. I saw a photo a few months back with the car all black it looked amazing, I had never seen seen a black cove car ? I was always going to paint it with the sateen coves but after seeing this car it kind of threw me. You guys seem to like the cove being painted. I'd love to know where Kenneth Hoffman got his 34.3 % from, I have been looking for that % for years. Don your probably correct why have a cove car and not highlight it ? Stewy- Top

Re: What Colour Coves
Stewy,
Do you have a calculator and a Corvette Black Book? Option 440 was the Two Tone Paint Combination (Contrasting Cove) for '56s thru '61s, the years that contrasting cove paint was available. For those years 49,844 'vettes were manufactured and the 440 option was selected 17,069 times. 17,069 divided by 49,884 is 34.255%. Its amazing what info can be discerned from the Black Book. If you wanted to you could even figure out what percentage of all 'vettes manufactured during that period were Tuxedo Black/silver cove 'vettes.
Thanks.- Top
