    On my 23000 mile 73 4 spd the bracket is on the 1st bolt to the passenger side of center. Tang is forward.

    I've always thought the 'tang' is there to stop what what ever hook you put in the eye from swiveling towards the center of the engine as you start to lift.
    Based on Terry's description ... perhaps a little too much paint on this eye!

        Paul,

        How did you install the rear pull bracket? Did you have to pull the distributor? I need to install the rear bracket on my '70 small block with the engine in. Thanks.

            I would pull the bolts from underneath the car.
            Worse case scenario is you will have to pull the transmission mount to lower the motor some for better access.
            I use one of these on a long extension.
