    '72 w/w rreservoir with A/C

    Hello All,

I've checked the 68-72 Fact Book (M.F. Dobbins) and the Assebly Manual (UPC C60 Sheet E4) to see exactly where the top of the w/w reservoir should be - neither are really that clear.

Does the attached photo show the correct location?

Question isn't clear enough to me to comment on... What do you mean by 'w/w rreservoir with A/C'?

If you're talking about the emission control label shown on the firewall of the car in your picture, that's a good approximation of factory correct/original. But, that label has nothing to do with 'w/w' or 'A/C'...all cars built after '68 had these labels.

As far as 'exact' location goes, there's no correct answer. Like most of the 'stick on' labels they were assy worker hand applied and you can expect minor placement deviation from vehicle to vehicle which is why these labels don't come with a 'put it here' instruction sheet...

Sorry Jack, I need to explain better. It's the correct location of the top of the w/w reservoir (bag) were you fill it with washer fluid. See the item circled in the attached photo.

I want to know if this is the correct location as there isn't much room here for much at all.

Ah, now I understand better! Well, what you show IS the way the washer bag installed. There were several variations of the washer bag over time with the key difference being the absolute height of the fill cap relative to the bag body...

At best, you can remove the filler cap and pull the filler up maybe 1-2 inches above the fender to get washer fluid into it.

When I fill my '71 (factory original washer bag), I have a 'clip on' funnel that attaches to my washer solvent bottle. I pull the washer bag's filler neck up and THEN open the cap. Next, I pull up on the cap as LITTLE as possible to gain a fill path.

The bottom of the washer hose has a plastic strainer pushed into it. If you pull too much on the hose, the strainer is likely to 'scrape' against the deflated washer bag sidewalls and pop loose from the washer hose!

If that happens, you're into removing the washer bag, shaking the filter out and reinstalling it in the hose. NOT fun!

Once the washer bag is full of fluid, screw the cap back on and gently press the filler neck back under the fender insuring the washer hose is safely away from the hood latch/catch mechanisms...
