Hi John, Sorry... I said Winters but meant Borg-Warner. My observation holds though. Does anyone have any idea about that? That the T10s were mostly built on Friday's second shift?

Hmmm. thats a Wednesday. Not good fr my theory :P
But I was just looking at T10-1 and T10-1B so far. That T10 would be for a 63 right?
Wonder if things changed in that regard for C2 production. So many things did.
      Thanks for the info!
Anyone else want to post their T10 build dates for the sake of interest, especially for T10-1 and T10-1B?

On the stamped assembly date, M is for December. I have a list of many, many T10's. I will research and see if all T10's were made on Friday, 2nd shift.

Thanks Wayne, that would be awesome! Darrel at Piper Auto told me they were all made on the second shift, and that he saw them mostly on certain dates, so I started researching a little. I know we don't judge it, but it is still very interesting to me. Would it be normal to see broach marks on that stamping, like on the engine pad?

            Ian-
I looked through some T10 info I wrote down several years ago (25?). It does seem as though all 57-59 T-10-1 main cases are stamped as assembled on the second shift. 60-62's show some third shift, and some 63's also show first shift, but a large majority of 57-63 T-10's seem to have been assembled on the second shift. As I went through my lists, I found assembly dates from Monday through Friday with a fairly even spread. As far as "broach marks", it seems likely that the stamp pad was machined at the same time as the surface for the side cover, and yes you could see some type of machining marks. Unfortunately, I do not have any T10-1 cases to look at!

Ian I'm not sure you can take a photo of the dates on the tranny when installed in car. I kind of don't under stand why they don't check the dates on these things when judged ? It is a major item on the car. They check so many other things that are a lot less meaningful than the gear box. Stewy

                Ian-
If everything else looks right with the case, it is possible that the casting day and month tag, along with it's retaining screws may have fallen out of mold.
For other T10 information, you can look at my article in the Restorer, Vol. 13, no.1

My broach marks are only over the stamped area ? The rest of the case finish is different. They don't look like a home job! Same finish as my engine pad. That's interesting. Stewy

The long and short of it is it is buried deep underneath the car, and its really touch for guys to get under there without lifting the car. Its tough for me, and I'm skinny

In Australia I noticed in the Mustang Club they have a drive on little bridge and you can view the full undercarriage when being judged. There is so much effort that goes into these things I'm surprised the cars are not lifted for better inspection. Stewy

                          Stewy -

They are, but only for Star/Bowtie judging.
