    C2 speedometer cable replacement ?

Is there an easy (???) way to remove the speedometer cable at the transmission on my 64 4 speed? The previsous owner apparently had the wrong cable so I thought I would replace it with the correct one, only to find out that between the shift linkage and the transmisson mount brackets I can't get my fingers on the lock nut with enough pressure to twist it off. Am I missing something obvious?

When you find out let me know, I have a 63 and can't get to mine either. I did ask the same question awhile back and someone suggested replacing the cable. I think the way I understood it was that if you disconnect it from the speedometer you can pull it out of the sleeve and the insert a new one. I guess that won't help you if the sleeve is the wrong color.

I hope someone helps out on this.

Can't offer you a certain solution but can you get a small 7/16" socket or wrench on the bolt that retains the 'thingy' (bullet ?) that holds the speedo driven gear in place, then grab the cable and pull / twist until it comes out, hopefully without dropping the plastic gear into the tail piece.
