Prior to taking my C3 to a restorer I would like to remove rust from frame and suspension. This is to be a frame on restoe. Can I use chemical process or sand blast or steel brushes to attack the surface rust? I would like to assist the restorer to free up some ofis time and save bucks? thanks, tom

Re: Rust removal frame
There are many ways to remove the rust and you will get different suggestions but I used a small air tool with 2" round abrasive pads. I thought it worked great. The pads will remove the rust easily and not remove steel. It makes a lot of dust so wear a mask.- Top

Re: Rust removal frame
Tom, attacking the chassis with the body on will give you results. I'm not sure you will be completely satisfied with those result. Have you thought about pulling the body, doing the frame, chassis, suspension, etc. replacing the body, then take it to the restorer. It will be more expensive than doing a frame on but considerably less expansive than having the restorer do the frame......
This way you can get all the hard to get at places, A-Arms, springs, steering box, T-Arms, differential, etc.
