Chrysler announced the closure of nearly 800 under performing dealerships today. GM is slated to close 2,600 dealerships, which means that many of our local Chevy dealerships will go away.

What is the cost to GM/Chrysler of having an under performing franchise? The costs of dealership operation are borne by the franchisee who operates the dealership, right? If the dealership makes ends meet and keeps it's employees employed while only selling 300 cars a year, why close it down?
      Can you say REBATES?

this is what GM should have done. It looks like some sweeping changes are going to take place when Akio Toyoda takes the helm of Toyota next month. According to Autoblog, the company will replace 40 PERCENT of its senior managers and half its board of directors. Toyota reported its worst loss in its 71-year history last quarter, a $7.8 billion loss, which is more than GM lost. toyota does it the first year it looses money and GM has been loosing money for years

I have to agree with Clem, looking forward, the cost of parts and if they are even available is going to become clear. But whenever I think about corvette parts, I'm reminded of a friend, she had a 98 Indy pace car. It got hit in 2005, nothing major but the drivers side needed to be repainted. Once done it looked perfect, except it had no decals on one side. She hunted down the decals which took two months and when she found a set, it $500.00 for just one side. I'm really worried that next to everything in GM world is going to turn out like this story. I had the mastercylinder replace on my C-4 last year and it was held up because the shop had a time of it just finding a new gerlock M/cylinder !
Each day is a gift, respect it, and enjoy it as if it were the last!
