Does anyone have a photo of the correct mounting bolts for the horns on a 1963? On my '63, the bolt that was holding the 455 is different than the bolt for the 456 and would like to know what is considered the correct bolt to use. Both are 1/2 inch hexagon heads with something stamped on the top but, as I said, they are different. I've checked a couple of reference manuals and can't seem to find anything that talks about these bolts. Thanks.

Re: 1963 Horn Mounting Bolts
Joseph, I did not have the original bolts for my horns, what I used is WB headmark bolts with star washers. That headmark is typical for 63, the star washer assures a good ground to the core support and is used at this location.
It's possible the bolts on your 63 may not be the same, can you make out the headmarks and post. I will look at my 67 later today and post the headmark.- Top

Re: 1963 Horn Mounting Bolts
Joe,
here is a picture of the most common horn bolt for 63-67's. They have RSC for thier headmarking and a captured externally toothed lock washer. I also have included a picture of a bolt with a blank head It is not nearly as common as the RSC but it was the only side shot of a horn bolt that I had.

Re: 1963 Horn Mounting Bolts
Thanks Tim and Rich for your responses. I'm pretty sure the one bolt isn't correct. It has a stamping on the head that isn't something I've seen in any of the reference books I looked in. Nor do I see it used on the car in any other places. The star washer is actually part of the head of the bolt. One piece so to speak. The other bolt may be okay. It has an anchor stamped on the head and this type of marking is referenced in one of the reference books I checked. It has a separate star washer under the head of the bolt. This type of bolt is also used in other places around the radiator area. My digital camera isn't working right now, otherwise, I'd post a picture of it. Thanks, Joe.- Top
