    Re: Driveline

Got mine in Florida yesterday as well (05/14/2009).

Henry, are you guys in Illinois still having your mail run through the State of Chicago first? Da Mayor wants to control everything, including Washington D.C.

Paul, kind of like going to a garage sale on the last day isn't it. I'm about 3 hours East of where it's published in Missouri and haven't received it yet. As reported it's made it's way to Pa, Mass, Jersey, Conn, Pacific Northwest, Alb and even Canada so whatever change Dick talked about seems to working better (for some areas). Maybe for next edition we could talk the pilot into throwing off a bundle as he's flying over Illinois.

          Stu,
Being a former Chicagoan, you should know that the "machine" worked for the first Da Mayor and it took a second Da Mayor to finally get it working again.

Stu, No that's one thing Chicago doesn't have it's hands in. Our Post Master says our mail goes through St. Louis and that's where the problem lies.

I believe that ALL the magazines go through St. Louis. It's called passing the buck.

Dick, I was thinking Gary told me (after either the Jan or March edition came out and we had this same discussion) the magazines were taken to Kansas City and sent out from there instead of all them going out of St. Louis. When I talked to her our local postmaster about the delivery back then she said all the periodicals that get delivered to our immediate area went through St. Louis. Some to the immediate north of us go through Springfield and seem to get better service. She told me to have a trace put on it to see where the hangup is. From what I understand the trace would start at the publisher and go from there but that would mean added work on you guys (putting out the magazine). And from all my bitching I know those responsible for putting the Driveline out are doing everything humanly possible to get it delivered promptly. Plus I'm assuming there have been tracers ran before so the added work would be a waste of time. JMO.

We are trying another service. The magazines are being trucked to various postal mail centers around the country. The shipping is piggy backed with other various publications. Supposedly it will reduce our shipping costs a few pennies, and speed up the delivery.

Mine came about five days quicker than usual. Hopefully others will see improved results.

Dick, first let me say thank you, for trying new ideas.
My Driveline however, was delivered today in pretty rough shape, due to no bag protecting it. I like the bagged delivery, myself.
Thanks for working on improving the service.

One point I forgot. When the Driveline goes out by it's self, it goes bulk mail, per USPS rules. When it is bundled with the Restorer it goes periodical rate, which is supposedly a little faster. Next Restorer mailing we will see if there is any improvement.
