    Old C2 plug wire question

    Gentlemen,

I recently purchased some Delco plug wires on EBay for my 66. It seemed more convenient than dropping in on the Chevrolet dealer and paying more. Delco plug wires 508N part #12043782

Upon receipt of the wires I noticed they are NOS. They are dated 4Q88 and even came with the 5 year 50,000 miles warranty registration card.

Do these 20 year old plug wires have a shelf life? They are in the original box and a sealed bag. Should I go down to the Chevy dealer and get a fresh set?
Are these NOS of better quality than the current Delco brand. Box says Packard Electric.

Not chasing any points here just want a good functional set of wires

I think the wires will be just fine. The main thing that causes deterioration of the wires is the heat of the engine compartment and various chemicals they may be exposed to. Obviously, these wires have not sustained that. I think they'll perform pretty much as if they were "fresh".
