1963 Headlamp plug prong dust cover?

Two out of the 4 headlamps on my 1963 coupe have these rubber dust covers that slip over the plug prongs on the back of the bulbs. These covers are shallow bowl shaped and are 2 1/2 in. in diameter on the open end. I have attached 2 digital photos for reference.

I've tried finding replacements for the other 2 bulbs, but none of the parts suppliers are aware of their existence! Has anyone heard of or seen these on their car? Is this perhaps an after-market piece that someone put on when a bulb was replaced? I appreciate any help to answer this puzzle.

No expert here, Larry, but I've never seen such an item.

I've seen them on some GM cars, I believe in the 70's, not on a Corvette. Part number is 02977804, which would make it several years later than the Part Number 02965810 used on the '63 Corvette. My (weak) memory says Pontiac, but I can't swear to it.

Larry, In all my years of playing with 63's and talking about 63's on the forums the headlight plug rubber boot cover or whatever it's called was never discusssed.
Refer to the Aims. Sect 12 Sheet A4.00, etc and notice that there is no mention or illustration of this rubber part. JD

In August of 63 I changed out my high beams to Aircraft Landing lights for better down road vision in the desert southwest. I don't recall anything like these boots that you show. On the AC lights, one has to bend the contact tabs to fit the sockets on the Corvette and I certainly would recall if there was a boot to deal with as it is a trial and error effort to make them fit right.

Thanks for the info Bill. It looks like these dust covers were simply added on at a later time when the bulbs were replaced.

Thanks for the info John. I'll check out the AIM as well. Based on all the responses that I've received, these dust covers must have been a later add-on when the bulbs were replaced.
