    1967 hood support

What are the correct headmarkings and size for the hood support mounting bolts?

    Thanks

Jeremy - The bolts to the inner fender are 1/4-20 x ~1" with a 3/8" sunken center head that have a headmark with an "anchor above a T shaped marking." The top bar of the T shaped marking divides the head in half and runs to the edge of the bolt head and the vertical leg also runs to the edge of the bolt head. The bolt has a cone point and a floating washer.

The bolts to the underside of the hood are 1/4-20 x ~3/4" with a 7/16" sunken center head that have a headmark with an "anchor" marking. This bolt has a flat point and a floating split lock washer.

While you'll see many cars with all 4 bolts the same, i.e. the 3/8" head cone point bolt, when you check the AIM and you'll see there are 2 different part numbers called out for the 2 different bolts.

    Hopefully, Wayne will post pictures.

Pete are you sure about the under hood bolts head marking. Mine are as you describe but have an "E" as the head mark. I am about 90% sure that these are original to my car.

Hi Pete -- here's a shot I posted a whle ago, but I forget the context (hood support or C60/L78 battery access panel ?). All I can comment on is for the 1965 MY; maybe the other C2 TIM&JG's are different. The '65 manual says 3/8" head with anchor and perpendicular lines for all 4 support bolts, but there are THREE different part #s called out [9409107 to hood underside; 3797168 to inner fender skirt (bolt vertical) and 3797079 (bolt head facing inboard and up) on the skirt]. The # 3797168 is the same as for the battery access panel, per the AIM.

Now you've got my curiosity --- I'll double check what I've got, and where.
P.S. notice that both anchors shown have one hook more pronounced than the other (ie. not symetric).
