If you lay the various JG books side by side, you'll see different descriptions of 'correct' emboss for different model years. The two factors are: (1) upright or inverted text, and (2) '12 Volt' vs. '12 V'.
I've gathered maybe 200 original AC temp senders from various scrap yard cars over the years and I've see all four variations which appear to be quite random with respect to the model year of the donor car they came from...
With GM producing millions of vehicles each year, I find it rather hard to 'swallow' that there was only ONE emboss machine and one 'correct' emboss sequence that changed from year to year!
As far as the pre/post amble sequence (dots or stars), that aspect varies too...
