    66 Bb Exhaust Manifolds

Does anyone know if 65 exhaust manifolds were carried over into 66 cars. I have a Dec 8th 1965 built car vin #79XX and I found two originals 65 exhaust manifolds and I was wondering if I can use them. Thanks John.
P.S. When I was checking out the manifolds this morning I didn't see the date they were built. The number are:
    3856301 3856302
    LH2 RH2

As far as I know, they were not used for 1966. However, there was no functional reason why they could not have been and there's no functional reason why they could not be used now.

I don't recall if these manifolds were dated, or not. However, if there is a date, I think it will be found on the INSIDE surface of the manifold (i.e. facing the block and not easily viewable when mounted on the engine).

Keep this in mind: original 396 exhaust manifolds are worth considerably more than the later variety. So, you could likely sell these and end up with more than enough to purchase original 66 and later manifolds.

      Addendum:

I just thought of a reason why the 1965 manifolds were likely not used for 1966. The right side manifold had choke tube provisions used for the 65-only choke set-up. While, theoretically, the 65 manifold could have been used for 1966 with some sort of "capping" of the choke tube provisions, I really doubt that GM would have done this

IIRC, I visited Rick Miller north of San Diego about 20 years ago (author of a book on investing in Corvettes). He showed me an early '66 that he had in his garage; 3-digit VIN 00xxx, although I didn't write it down. He pointed out that this car had 301/302 manifolds (didn't ask the dates), and the passenger side was NOT drilled for the manifold heat tube (hot air to carb choke bimetallic).

I suppose as long as a '66 427 didn't have the Air Injection Reactor option, there'd be no reason not to use the '65 BB ones. These are dated, and can be found facing the engine, and low, near where the 4 runners join.

Yes, I suppose that if one found a 3856302 manifold with no machined provisions for the heat tube, then that manifold would have to have been originally used on a 1966 since it would not have worked for a 1965. I've never seen one of these, though.

            Thanks.
The manifolds that I found belong to a friend of mind and I'll have to tell him that they are worth more money then the 66 is, I forgot about the choke tube. Thanks again John.
