    Exhaust Manifolds for '64 w/ L75,M20 & C60

I need help identifying the correct exhaust manifolds for my 1964 A/C coupe. It had a generic 350 in it when I got it. All of the original C60 stuff was put on the new engine along with what appears to be the original exhaust manifolds and a '65-up side exhaust system. Mine is an early unit built the first week of October, 1963. I checked my 53-67 Spec Guide and the Noland Adams book to see what manifolds I should have. What came with the car are 3846563 (LH) and 3797942 (RH). Everything I read tells me I should have 3797902 on the RH side. I checked and re-checked the casting number and it is x42, not x02. Does anyone have any ideas? I have removed the side exhaust and plan to replace it with a correct through-the-end-panel 2 1/2" system. Of course the 350 is out and a #870 327 is being readied. Thanks!!

Peter -- based on the 1965 TIM&JG (and I can't think of why an early '64 should be different) you have the correct 2_1/2" manifold casting #'s. The "902" is for a non-air car with a passenger side alternator mount.

If the 3797902 RH exhaust manifold is correct for a 1964 non-A/C car with the alternator mounted on the RH side, then the Spec Guide has an error. I see that the 1965 information matches what you said. When I re-check the 1964 entry it lists 902 for all L35 with M20 equipped vehicles. The 942 manifold is only listed for the L36 engine with C60. That can't be correct if the 902 manifold has a provision for the alternator mount. It would interfere with the C60 compressor mounting brackets. Thanks for the response. I will use my 942 manifold unless someone else has a comment.

Pete -- I have an early '65 (014xx) with L76 and C60, and it has the same manifolds you do. Who is the publisher of this "Spec Guide" to which you refer ?

The '63-'64 JG calls for the 942 manifold for your application.

I bought a couple of NCRS Corvette Specification Guide booklets when I joined the club last month. I wanted to assure myself that the parts that I am planning to put back on my 1964 coupe are correct for it. So far I have been very pleased with these booklets as well as the Noland Adams book (Vol.2) that I purchased also from the NCRS website. Also, the NCRS Technical Discussion forum has been a great help with almost instant answers to a few of my questions (such as this one). I'm a newbie in this hobby. My main interest has been Corvairs and they out number the Corvettes as of right now. The Corvair club does not compare with the amount of technical help offered by the NCRS. With the club's help I should be able to get my '64 out of the garage and back on the road - a place that it has not seen since August 8th, 1975! Thanks to all! - Pete
