C2 Ignition Lead Wire Repair Kit

I've looked through the Lectric Limited Website for an ignition lead wire repair kit for my '65 coupe with no luck. At some point in time before my father bought this Corvette back in 1974 the igniton wiring from the main harness to the coil had been spliced with incorrect colored wiring. I am trying to write this situation the best I can without replacing the harness. I am in need of the main (red) wire and the the black wire with the purple stripe.

Does any vendor sell such a kit?

    Thanks,

    James West

James, I am gonna guess that it is highly unlikely a vendor would have this. Maybe someone out here has an old harness they can be used to repair yours.
Now if you were to talk to the boys that make the harnesses maybe they could help you. Try Eagle Wiring in TN. Don is the owner. Very nice fellow. I am sure someone here can give you his number. JD

'Just a long shot but how about a large electrical supply house? A few years ago I found correct gauge/color wire and terminal.

      Good Luck!

        John,

I'd be happy with an old harness as a doner if someone had one, but if I can find the number for Eagle Wiring I'll give them a call also. Looks like it's Google time.

Thanks to both you and Steve for the replies.

None of the harness mfgr's really sell individual harness components, James...it's simply too much hassle. If you want to open up your engine harness and effect repair, your best shot is either getting donor parts from from another Corvette owner who's replaced his harness OR take a walk through your local scrap yard and pick up an equivalent passenger car harness to chop into. If memory serves, the wires + color coding was the same across the Chevy line with the difference(s) lying in length + routing...

As Jack mentioned, the pass car can be a good source for wiring "bits", but you will have to stick pretty close to the '65 pass cars to match the '65 Corvette, as the 64-67 era was a period where the color/stripe vs Black/stripe requirement changed back and forth virtually every model change.

James Try www.riwire.com Know they have the solid colors - the red looks close to correct color and dia. Good source for terminals and GM connector blocks.

                Hi James,
The '07 Eagle Wire Products catalog lists 800-977-0030.

IMHO they don't sell pieces because they want you to buy a $140 harness.
