Re: 1956 Hardtop
Sorry, should've said for Dan's '56 VIN it's a regular '56 hardtop with narrow aluminum trim. Yes, the early '56's hardtop front exterior trim was painted and very late '56 production cars probably had '57 wide stainless front exterior trim as Tom Parson's points out his car does. AIM revision date for '57 trim was 7/31/57. Gary....Last edited by Gary C.; May 8, 2009, 08:05 PM.NCRS Texas Chapter

Re: 1956 Hardtop
I thought early (300) had the header trim painted.

Re: 1956 Hardtop
My 56 was built Sep 7, 56. The hardtop has the wide, stainless header trim. VIN is 4363, 104th car from the end of 56 production. I suspect by that time there were already pilot 57s moving down the line.
Furthermore, the rear and quarter windows and headliner have been replaced (in the early 70s) so no dates are available.
I got the build date info from Jack Knudsen at the 81 NCRS Natls in St. Louis (BEFORE someone severely p!$$&d him off).- Top
