    1955 coil bracket

Looking for a coil holder for a 1955. Does anyone have one? I've tried all the usual suspects and no one seems to have one.

saw that one. Spoke to Jay. That's for the 53-54 6 cyl application. Not sure but I believe the 55 is narrower. I found a bunch of places that have the 53-54 but no one seems to have the 55

Have you tried Grossmueller's? Pricey but they usually have the items...

Hello Al, It's good to hear from another 55 owner. What number do you have?
I haveattached a picture of a coil bracket from a Top Flight 55 car. The bracket on my 55 looks just like it but it may be narrower. The 54 bracket that Vette Gal has on Ebay looks different because it has a small tab on the side of the slot in the bracket. The one from Jay looks like mine. Look at some of the 55's on the C1registry.com.

This is the 55 and only the 55 used this design bracket , you may have to locate the later design and cut the condenser mount off to make it look like the 55. Remember there are few 55's left so you dont find those little parts for sale very often Good luck

These are a dime a dozen even the 53-54 so like I said just cut the tang off to make it a 55 bracket

A replacement Model A Ford coil bracket really looks like the 55 coil bracket. Originally the Model A coil bracket was part of the coil. But for a replacement coil you have to use a separate bracket.
Repro Brkt is part #16920 for $2.60ea. from Bratton's Antique Auto Parts 800-255-1929. I am looking at the pic and can't believe how it is made like a 55. Just a shot but the price is right. JD

roy, located an original later design coil bracket with condensor mount. measuring around the circumference of the condensor mount cutout i get a measurement of 1.375 inches. i also have an identical bracket that does not have a coil mount, but only measures 1.25 inches. cutout widths on both are .750 inch. the difference is very noticeable when put next to each other. is the bracket w/o condenser mount from a 53-54? also i noticed in the slots that secure the bracket to the car, that the original brackets appear to make their slots by first drilling two holes and then punching out the slot. current ones have the proper punch so that slots are smooth. what do you think?

                      Re: 1955 coil bracket

It was my understanding that the only difference between the 55 and 56 was the tab. In removing the tab and filing the area smooth, it appears to be correct from what I've seen in the pictures.

do as roy says--get a pass car coil bracket and make the opening rectangular by removing the condensor piece.Stay away from that Model A crap as suggested by the Greensburg FI Crapper.mikie

i have original 56 brackets that i can use. i am still curious what the 1 1/4 cutout bracket w/o the condensor belongs on. (it is not a aftermarket bracket)
