62 Fuel Filler Neck Area Paint

A friend of mine asked me if I knew what was painted and not painted in the fuel neck area of a 62 and I can only assume, whick I don't want to do. I told him that I would inquire to the most reliable sources, so can you please guide us in the correct way? His concern is what got body color on it? The gas tank neck? The rubber grommet on the fuel tank neck? The overflow rubber line and the rubber grommet on the overflow line going into the body? The clip and screw holding the overflow line?
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    Warren(11327)

    Warren...
62 Fuel filler area is painted exterior body color... The fuel vent hose, vent hose gromment, metal hose retaining clip and rubber door bumper all appear with paint overspray. the filler pipe and gas cap are unpainted.

        Mike...
My bad memory recalls that the filler tube and filler tube grommet were masked off before painting... I seen one 62 where the filler gromment was completely painted body color, owner claimed the paint was original !

i've never removed a virgin fill tube +/or grommet that i thought was painted at st louis. my guess is the fill tube with grommet and gas cap were installed on the gas tank after the body was painted. i've never removed the gas door bumpers and seen paint under them. mike

When I bull back the original fill tube grommet on my '62, bare glass is underneath it, maybe masked during paint, but definitely installed in the fill area.

I do not Know about the bull , I agree about the rest. I believe that they put a mask over the fill assembly during painting. There may be a small amount of paint on the lower edge of the fill grommet.
