    Dash light bulbs.....

Help! Does anyone have a source for AMERICAN MADE dash light bulbs? If not, what kind of bulb life should I expect from the China stuff that I can buy? I would like to buy numbers 1445, 1816. Thanks, Bill

Bill, It's almost impossible to find any American made bulbs in the stores unless very old dusty stock. Try ebay. John

Bill, John is right sad to say. But hey, what's wrong with China stuff, forget about the baby formula, the toothpaste, the drywall, the mislabeled drugs, metal parts the don't fit, etc. etc. etc. Have faith my friend, search ebay, and gas stations that have been around for years, you just may find what you need. Bill.

John/Bill, I have been to eBay and Google, some stuff is out there, most of it is from China. I did find two of the # 257 flasher bulbs. Bill, I like your idea of trying old service stations. In the end, new China bulbs may be about equal to my 10 year old GE bulbs. Thanks, Bill

          Bill:

I "goggled" automobile bulbs #1445 and found a place that claims to have NORS bulbs made in USA. Westinghouse brand.....should be fine. Look vintage. About $3/each. Website is www.classicautobulbs.com. They did not show #1816, but only had #1815. But you could call and inquire.

You can also search (like I did) for the #1816 bulbs, and probably can find someone who still has old stock. I found similar bulbs in places selling to RVs, model trains, and pinball machines (GE #257 flashing believe it or not). You just have to look for awhile on-line and chase down a few leads. Good luck.

          Larry

            Also toy trains. Lionel lists #67, 90, 257,1445, 1816 and 1893. Dale
