    77' tachometer

Does anyone know what the 2 chips are on the 77 tachometer pcb?
One has numbers but I have never been able to find a reference. The other has no markings at all. The resistor is a no-brainer, it's burnt but the colours are visible.

    Thanks,

      Hi Ken,
Are you able to supply the references. We have a couple surplus suppliers in the area.
      Thanks for the response though.

      Cheers.

You're better of buying a Gardner board that's precalibrated than pursuing long gone parts.

If its an original board and you're referring to the black and white chip, its a fixed resistor used to calibrate the board. To be precise, its a 14 pin chip-type fixed resistor network called a Dual in-line Package (DIP). It's a DIP Ruthenium Oxide device. They were last used on 96 boards and are replaced with a variable resistor on replacement boards.

As suggested, Gardner's boards are an excellent replacement choice. After doing some extensive research on the boards, I would recommend replacement rather than repair. Fresh components, precise calibration and copper paths that are thickened to absorb electrical malfunctions.

            Thanks Tom and Ken.

OK, a Gardner board it is then - if someone can point me in the right direction. I think I've seen the name before but not sure where to find it.

Greatly appreciate the technical response. It is an original board. A resistor pak makes sense.
