    Mystery Engine - Joe Lucia??

A friend and myself are working on a Chevy V8 engine that was supposed to be a 67 327 but looks to us as a replacement 350.

The numbers on the block are

    15R494537

    10430CMJ

Any idea as to where this engine came from??

    Thanks for any help

...or, also, 1975-76 350 with 2 barrel carb or, even, some 1991 Cadillacs (Brougham) with 350 cid engine. The casting number and date should narrow it down.

The "R" in the VIN derivative probably indicates the Arlington, TX assembly plant and the preceding "5" probably indicates the 1975 model year. So, this likely means the engine was a low performance 350 originally installed in a 1975 Chevelle or Monte Carlo.
