The larger diameter side of the dimmer switch grommet shown in the pic should be reversed 180 degrees to the under side of the carpet. (Smaller diameter with the concentric circles exposed).

Dang it. Knew I was going to guess wrong. I couldn't remember except that I had done it originally backwards.

Questions, why did you use the black Hushmat? Did you need all 30 sheets?

Black carpet, black hushmat. No other reason. Yes it took all 30 sheets to do front seat and foot areas, transmission tunnel, luggage stop, and entire rear storage area. Actually had very little left over. Just some portions of sheets I had cut. Bulk pack can usually be found at good discounted price as well, versus having to buy smaller portions.

You obviously have more patience than most guys.
Do you have shots of the rail flaps that you could share?
Is the dimmer switch grommet in the pic a temporary placement?
Did the end tabs of the bulkhead piece that meets the wheel well piece in the corner come with the binding attached?
Looks like a good idea to leave the ash tray in place for a proper alignment guide for the console. (ie: allowing proper removal).

        1. Yes, I will look for them. Carpet flaps, correct.
        2. No, it is correct, just installed backwards. Smaller diameter should be to front, so what you are looking at is the backside of the grommet that should be under the carpet.
        3. These are the tabs at the very back along the the vertical wall next to the deck springs? If so, however they are shown is how they came. I did nothing extra to them.
        4. Yes, no matter what you think DO NOT CUT THE CONSOLE WITHOUT FIRST DRY FITTING IT. Is is almost an optical illusion as to how much you NEED TO LEAVE.

Re-read you question and realized you might just be asking why I used Hushmat. An article showed it was the best liner at stopping heat, which is what I wanted around my transmission (sound was less important since I have a convertible). Hushmat was also the thinnest material available so that it could be placed under the standard underlayment without creating extra thickness issues. So, thinnest and best a stopping unwanted heat from underside of car. Very easy to work with as well.

            Thanks Kirt.
I like the black. Just seems like most people use the silver stuff.
            30 sheets...GOOD information.

Here are my cuts. I opted for flaps in front and cut-outs in back. I did save the cut-outs in back just in case things change! I also cleaned up a few of the stray carpet loops along the edges to make the cut-outs look cleaner.

Kim: looks great! Those rear wheelhouse pieces are definitely challenging.

For anyone with a carpet install looming --I highly recommend using a clothing steamer (eg Jiffy Steamer) to loosen and form the material. Almost impossible to damage the fibers. The moist heat makes all the difference. When the carpet dries, it seems to shrink slightly and tighten up for a great fit.

For glue, I'm sold on 3M Super 90 (green can) with the adjustable fan nozzle. Zero mist like the 77 spray adhesive. Took 8 cans for the convertible.

                Good choice on the Hushmat!

Kirk do you have any pic of the carpet glued down around the center console? Do you have to notch the carpet around the screw brackets.
                  Thanks
