    58 ignition switch

I had the ignition switch out to repaint cluster this winter. The key worked fine before the switch came out and now the key it hard to pull in and out and the switch will not go into lock. What have I done to it? How do I fix it?

Hi Susan, Just out of curiosity, do you have a copy of the NCRS Manual that covers operations and PV testing.

If not, I suggest you make that investment. A lot of time and effort went into producing that manual in hope it would be helpful to those trying to really understand the operation of their particular car.

    Best Regards, Dennis

Hi Dennis, I do not have this manual. I have service guide, assembly manual and ncrs judging guide. Sounds like I need it. I appreciate your suggestion,
      regards, Susan

Susan - You might try soaking the ignition lock cylinder in some WD-40, then rinse it in some thinner, and re-oil it with some light oil like 3-in-1. Pete

          Susan,
If you look at the switch you will see a square boss that fits into a notch in the dashboard hole. This is what locates the switch in the dash and bezal properly. I've seen switches installed without lining up the boss with the notch and they don't fit properly nor do they work very well. I'd check this before going crazy. Rich
