    1972 LT-1 Alternator

Does anyone know where I might find a alternator for a 1972 LT-1 with A/C? I need one date coded for May 14th through 31st. Thanks!

That's one you might want to back off your narrow time window and let the NCRS 6-month rule work for you on... You're talking about a 1100544 alternator that was a Corvette exclusive part for 1971 and 1972 used only on A/C equipped cars.

I looked for +5 years for one for my '71 and finally settled for a '72 date coded unit. I saw LOTS of restamps along the way, though...

In the end, I settled for what I have and simply accept the small deduction for its date being incorrect for my car. BTW, I saw some outrageous prices when I was shopping like just a 1100544 front case with an asking price of $900!

You won't have "too" hard of a time finding one for your 72. As with Jack I've been looking for a perfect date for my 71 for 13 years now. I've settled with a Jan date for my June 71 car, and that's as close as I've gotten. I picked it up when I saw it because any for the 1971 model year are rare.

I have seen alternators from July 71 onward relatively easily. You can likely find one through Smith or through Pirkle if you want May of 72. Look for a 74 date and they're "a dime a dozen." 71 dates are the rare ones.
