Re: El Paso Plating
One point to note is that El Paso Plating uses the more common trivalent chrome process compared to the hexavalent chrome used in the original plating. My understanding is that hexavalent chrome plating has more environmental implications, and it's getting more scarce because of government regs.
Trivalent chrome is supposed to have a "grayer" color, while hexavalent is more blue (vice versa?). Without a side by side comparison, you probably cannot tell the difference in appearance. However, you may not be able mix the two types of chrome on a car without the subtle difference being noticed.
I looked at El Paso Plating to do the chrome on my 70, but balked when I couldn't get enough technical info out of them to make an informed decision.- Top

Re: El Paso Plating
I had my front bumpers straightened and rechromed by Industrial Plating on Florence Blvd. in Omaha, Nebraska 25 years ago when I did a cosmetic restoration and was impressed with the work. They still look good after all these years. Anyone in the Omaha area familiar with their current work? I also recall a number of members recommending Peach Plating (or a similar name) in the Atlanta area.Keith MacRae
