    Replacement Soft Top

I have a 1966 unrestored roadster. The top is slowly crumbling. I want to replace it. The rear window appears to have a date code on it.

What's the right way to do this?

James I can recommend a new top from Al Knotch. Their tops come packaged with new pads and a few other items.
Finding someone to install it correctly is the bigger problem.
You have missed the opportunity to attend two recent functions that you could have attended and let Al Knotch personnel install your new top.
Check their web page for Carlisle and a farther function in east TN near Knoxville and reserve a installation time.
Don't wash the bugs off a new convertible top with a pressure hose at a self car wash.

Thank you. I live near Carlisle, I get there for most events involving anything GM. I'll check them out.

If you are going to use Al Knotch at Carlisle the end of August for your top purchase and installation you should make the appointment now, they can only so many seat cover and Corvette installations at a Corvette function. Quality work takes time.

Al Knotch advertises in the NCRS Driveline.

          James,

As Jim mentioned call Al Knoch now to make the appointment, ask for Dale when you call them.

'And if you preorder from Al don't forget to tell them up front the date you want on the window.

And ask for the Kennedy pattern, it is supposed to fit better, more like the original. Don't let them talk you out of it.

What kind of shape is your convertible top frame in? You may want to take the opportunity to freshen it up if it needs it. It would be a shame to put a new top on the frame if it's not in good shape. Just a thought.

Good luck. BTW - welcome to the NCRS and to the Forum. Good to have you on board.

                    Cheers,

The frame is in good shape. I'm going to remove it and repaint it before I have the new top installed.
