      Re: relay

That's actually a service replacement part for the 1971 factory original Anti-Diesel relay (3996203). The anti-diesel relay was used in conjuction with 39996204, blocking relay, and together they were part of the circuitry used in 1971 to thwart engine run-on on air conditioned cars.

The system was also applicable to Corvette. The idea was the relay's sensed engine shut down (ignition key), over-rode or 'blocked' the driver's setting of the A/C controls, and for about 15-seconds, FORCED the A/C compressor to turn ON and present the engine with more load to prevent run-on or 'dieseling'....

I would not be surprised if very late 1971's used the 6273301 in PRODUCTION.

          Re: relay

Nor would I, Joe, since I've seen them on late model year era scrap yard passenger cars! But, based on the revision(s) we have to work with for the '71 Corvette AIM, there's no running change called out for a 3996203 -> 6273301 transition.

Also, since both of these relays were screwed to the RH side of the Harrison air box plenum under the dash in the cockpit, it's a *&^% of a job getting up there with a mirror/light to read and verify the PN's on their case!

I suspect few judges attempt to read/verify them. And, the situation is compounded because the two look pretty darn similar if you don't have them in your hands to read the silk screen on the case!
