Side Pipe Rocker Panel Screws For 1967

According to the judging manual the two end screws on the rocker panel for a 1967 side pipe car should be chrome. It states that non side pipe cars have black screws. I have NOS side pipe rocker panels that were purchase 20 years ago and the screw kit that came with them has chrome screws. What is the correct end screw black or chrome. Any help to clarify this will be appreciated.

    Thanks

Mike, I think you answered your own question. The JM says chrome, you got chrome. Bill

That was the way my car was when I purchased it in 2001 and it had most original parts.

I had a similiar situation with those screws, Chrome or Black? I was "docked" points for both at 2 different judgings. I reviewed the AIM and it has the same screw part number for both Sidepipe and Non-sidepipe cars.

I then reviewed this with Keith Biggers (past 67 judging chair) and he determined that they should be black in both cases.

I can't believe this. The JM says chrome, and a judge says black. Mine are chrome. Who's to Bless, and Who's to blame?

Side pipe cars have chrome from the factory. Atleast ours is.

Based on the info received it sounds like there is no true answer to this question. I will go with the chrome screws since the NOS kit I have has chrome screws. Thanks to everyone for your input.

Thanks Doug. I don't remember the answer for sure but my guess is just what you showin your pic's. Black phos. (dark grey actually)

I wonder what the AIM shows for both side and chassis exhaust style mldgs? Is the part number the same?

                      Mike,

1967 AIM shows part # 9420554 on the N14 option page. Page for regular rocker panel(F4) shows same number. (However, page(F4) show the sill plate #'s and the rocker #'s with all the rocker #'s X'ed out. I assume the page was trying to emphasize only the sill plate numbers. I did not see any additional page for the regular rockers.)

The same part number, 9420554, is shown in the 63 AIM for rocker mldgs and also in the 66 AIM for rocker mldgs for both standard exhaust and side exhaust.

Unfortunately, I can't find any info on the 9420554 screw in the parts books. If it was listed, it probably would have shown the dimensions and plating.
