    67, 435 horse cold start

    Hello everyone,
I've been hearing several explanations regarding proper startup of a cold engine. What do you guys feel the best way to start up a cold engine to preclude unnecessary wear and how should the entire car be warmed up? That is, should I crank the car without stating it to build up oil pressure, start it and immediately go to 2000 rpm or so to build up oil pressure??? We live on a dirt road (have a 500 ft asphalt drive though) so I have trailer some of my vettes but obviously have to start them to get on the trailer. . Should I drive up and down the drive for a few minutes to warm them up properly or is this necessary?
    As usual, much thanks,
    Jerry

To save wear on the starter if your car has not been started for several days, weeks, or months remove the air cleaner lid and with a syringe inject fresh gasoline through the carbs vertical vent tube before starting.

Jerry, DO NOT go to 2k on the tach, just let the choke do it's thing, 11, 12 hundred or so. YES, by all means, warm the engine till operating temp. Worse thing you can do is start, drive 30 feet and shut off. Bill
